Privacy Policy

Effective date: September 1, 2026  ·  Kurio, Inc.

Footprint is provided by Kurio, Inc. (“Footprint,” “we,” “us,” or “our”), located at 1178 Broadway Fl 3 #4321, New York, NY 10001.

This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect personal information when you use the Footprint mobile application, our website, and related services (collectively, the “Service”).

Our commitments

Footprint is designed to hold memories, stories, and personal information that may be deeply meaningful to you. We treat that responsibility seriously. Our approach is guided by a few basic principles:

1. Information we collect

The information we collect depends on how you use Footprint.

Information you provide to us

Account information. When you create an account, we may collect information such as your name, username, email address, profile photo, and information used to confirm that you meet Footprint's minimum age requirements.

If you sign in using a third-party sign-in service, such as Apple or Google, we receive the account information that service makes available to us. We do not receive or store the password for your Apple or Google account.

Your footprints and other content. We collect the information you choose to add to Footprint. Depending on how you use the Service, this may include:

Because Footprint is intended to preserve personal stories and experiences, the content you choose to add may sometimes reveal information that is sensitive or highly personal. You control what you choose to add.

Information about other people. You may identify or feature other people in your footprints. If you invite or feature someone who is not yet a Footprint user, you may provide us with information such as that person's name or email address.

We use that information to provide the relevant Footprint feature, including notifying or inviting that person. We do not use an invitation email address provided by another user for unrelated advertising.

Communications with us. We collect information you provide when you contact us for customer support, report a problem, provide feedback, or otherwise communicate with us.

Information collected automatically

When you use Footprint, we and our service providers may automatically collect certain technical and usage information, such as:

For example, Footprint uses product analytics to understand how features are used and to identify technical errors. Error analytics are designed to contain limited technical information rather than the content of your footprints.

We use this information primarily to operate, secure, troubleshoot, understand, and improve Footprint.

Location information

Footprint allows you to associate places and locations with footprints.

Depending on the feature you use and the permissions you grant, we may process location information that you enter, select, attach to a footprint, or permit your device to provide.

You can control device-level location permissions through your device settings.

Subscription information

Subscriptions purchased through the Footprint iOS app are processed by Apple.

We do not receive or store your full payment-card information. Apple processes payment information directly.

We receive information relating to your subscription and entitlement status, including through a subscription-management provider, so that we can determine which Footprint features your account is entitled to use.

2. How we use information

We use personal information to:

We may also create aggregated or de-identified information that does not reasonably identify an individual and use that information for analytics, research, product improvement, and other lawful purposes.

3. AI and automated processing

Footprint uses artificial intelligence and other automated systems to provide certain features, including transcription, content recognition, and tools that help identify connections, relationships, or insights among your footprints.

Depending on the feature you use, information processed by these systems may include text, footprint metadata, images, or audio.

Footprint uses one or more third-party AI providers' APIs for certain AI-powered functionality. For example, we may use these services to analyze footprint information, recognize information contained in an image, or transcribe an audio recording.

We do not permit our AI providers to use content submitted through Footprint's API integrations to train their models. Under a provider's standard API data practices, information submitted through the API may be retained by the provider for a limited period for purposes such as abuse monitoring, safety, and service operation, subject to the provider's applicable terms, retention controls, and legal obligations.

Footprint's AI features are intended to help organize, understand, and surface information for you. We do not use automated processing to make decisions about you that have legal or similarly significant effects.

4. How we disclose information

We do not sell your personal information.

We disclose personal information only as described in this Policy.

Service providers

We use companies that provide services necessary to operate Footprint. These providers may process personal information on our behalf for purposes such as:

These providers are permitted to process information only in connection with providing their services to us and subject to applicable contractual and legal obligations.

Apple and other platforms

When you use services provided directly by Apple or another platform provider — including Sign in with Apple or an App Store purchase — that provider processes information according to its own privacy practices.

Other Footprint users

Footprint includes features that allow information to be connected to or shared with other people.

When you choose to feature, share, or otherwise connect content with another Footprint user, that person may be able to see the information you choose to make available through that feature.

Certain limited account information, such as your name, username, or profile photo, may also be visible to other users where necessary to enable features such as identifying, featuring, inviting, or finding people on Footprint.

Legal and safety disclosures

We may disclose information if we reasonably believe disclosure is necessary to:

Business transactions

If Kurio, Inc. is involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, bankruptcy, sale of assets, or similar business transaction, personal information may be transferred as part of that transaction.

Any successor that receives personal information will remain subject to applicable privacy obligations.

5. Advertising, analytics, and tracking

Footprint does not sell personal information or use personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.

We may use analytics technologies to understand how people use Footprint, identify technical problems, measure product performance, and improve the Service.

Our analytics may associate usage information with an internal Footprint user identifier. We take steps designed to limit the information included in analytics and error-reporting events, including restricting the transmission of user-entered content and sensitive authentication information.

You may be able to control certain analytics or device-level permissions through Footprint or your device settings where those controls are available.

Some browsers and devices transmit “Do Not Track” or similar signals. Because there is not a single universally accepted standard for responding to all such signals, Footprint does not currently respond to browser Do Not Track signals.

Because Footprint does not sell personal information or use it for cross-context behavioral advertising, opt-out preference signals relating specifically to those practices do not change how Footprint uses your information.

6. Communications

We may send you transactional or service-related communications, including messages concerning:

These communications are necessary to operate the Service and generally cannot be opted out of while your account remains active.

If we send promotional or marketing communications, you may unsubscribe using the link provided in those messages.

7. Your choices

Your content

You control the content you choose to add to Footprint and may edit or delete content using the controls available in the Service.

Device permissions

Features such as camera access, photo-library access, microphone access, notifications, and location may depend on permissions provided through your device.

You can review or change these permissions through your device settings.

Email

You can unsubscribe from promotional email using the unsubscribe link included in the message.

Transactional and account-related communications may continue for as long as necessary to provide the Service or administer your account.

8. Account deletion

You may initiate deletion of your Footprint account directly within the app.

When you request account deletion, your account enters a 30-day deletion period. During this period, the account and its associated content may remain recoverable in case the deletion was accidental.

At the end of the 30-day period, we permanently delete your account and associated personal content from our active systems, except for information we are required or permitted to retain for legitimate legal, security, fraud-prevention, accounting, or similar purposes.

Content you shared with other Footprint users is also removed when your account is deleted. For example, if a footprint originating from your account was shared with or made available within another user's Footprint, that shared content will be removed as part of the deletion of your account.

Certain residual copies of information may temporarily remain in secure backups or other systems where immediate deletion is technically impracticable. Such information is not available for ordinary use and is deleted or overwritten in accordance with our normal backup and retention processes, unless we are legally required to retain it longer.

Deleting your Footprint account does not automatically cancel an App Store subscription. App Store subscriptions must be managed separately through Apple.

9. How long we keep information

We generally retain personal information for as long as your account is active or as necessary to provide Footprint.

Retention periods may differ depending on the type of information and why we hold it. For example:

When information is no longer reasonably necessary for the purposes for which we retain it, we delete or de-identify it, subject to applicable legal and technical requirements.

10. Your privacy rights

Depending on where you live and which privacy laws apply to Footprint, you may have rights concerning your personal information, including the right to:

You may submit a privacy request by contacting hello@footprintapp.co.

We may need to verify your identity before completing certain requests. We will respond in accordance with applicable law.

We will not discriminate against you for exercising privacy rights provided by law.

Because Footprint does not sell personal information or use it for cross-context behavioral advertising, we do not offer a separate opt-out from those practices.

11. Children

Footprint is intended for people 16 years of age and older.

We do not knowingly allow children under 16 to create Footprint accounts. If we learn that we have collected personal information from a child under 16 in violation of this Policy, we will take appropriate steps to delete the account and associated information.

If you believe a child under 16 is using Footprint, please contact us at hello@footprintapp.co.

12. Security

We use administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect personal information against unauthorized access, loss, misuse, alteration, or disclosure.

No method of transmitting or storing information is completely secure, however, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

13. United States service

Footprint is currently offered in the United States.

Our systems and service providers may process and store information in the United States and other locations in which our service providers operate.

If Footprint becomes available in additional countries or regions, we may update this Privacy Policy or provide additional privacy disclosures as required by applicable law.

14. Changes to this Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes to Footprint, our practices, or applicable law.

When we make changes, we will update the effective date above. If a change is material, we may also provide additional notice, such as through the app or by email.

Your use of Footprint after an updated Privacy Policy becomes effective is subject to the updated Policy, except where applicable law requires a different form of notice or consent.
